EOD Technician III (Full-time/Unaccompanied Status)
***This position is located on a beautiful tropical island in the
Marshall Islands. You must be willing to relocate. This is an unaccompanied
position***
Responds to Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) callouts
resulting from construction operations, erosion and tidal actions
above the lower water line
and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED). Conduct surface, reef and
beach sweeps for WW II Japanese and U.S munitions / ordnance. Prepare
and conduct disposal operations for UXO materials. Conduct UXO awareness
classes to new hire personnel, police officers, fire fighters and
school age children. Support other EOD teams for operations below
the low water line. Prepare reports, develop risk assessments for
hazardous operations and update SOP’s as needed. Issue, receive,
and transport explosives to and from explosive storage facilities.
Prepare and launch spheres in support of range operations
Required skills: Minimum six years experience as Explosive Ordnance
Technician; military or civilian. Able to put on and wear the Med/Eng
Bomb Suit (size Med or Large).
Desired skills: Previous experience in Ordnance and Munitions at
other ranges. Familiarization with World War II ordnance a plus.
Operate Schonstedt, Whites Metal Detector, Mini Andros II, Golden
x-ray system. Current in 8 hour Hazwoper refresher and CPR training.
Typical experience: 6-8 years.
Education: High School Diploma and certified EOD training.

Project Safety Lead II (Full Time/ Unaccompanied)
(2 openings- location Roi Namur and Kwajalein)
Responsibilities:
Works both independently and with supervision to develop, implement,
and supervise the Kwajalein Range Services (KRS) Safety and Occupational
Health Plan (SOHP) for projects and operating facilities. Plans
and conducts independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation,
selection, application, and adaptation of safety compliance, techniques,
control procedures, and criteria.
JOB DIMENSIONS:
A Supervision Received:
A.1. Reports to and receives operational direction and functional/technical
supervision from the Safety Supervisor and Environmental, Safety
and Health (ES&H) Manager. May receive additional direction from
the Supervisor of Environmental Services.
B Supervision Exercised:
B.1. Provides technical direction and functional supervision to Safety
Technicians and other department personnel as assigned.
C Principal Responsibilities:
C.1. Contributes to and supervises the implementation of the SOHP,
accident prevention programs, recognition, evaluation, and control
of hazardous activities and/or conditions during base operation and
community life.
C.2. Develops, supports and conducts safety related training programs
for areas of occupational and community safety which include, but
are not limited to, new employee safety and health orientation, community-wide
island orientation, lockout/tagout, scaffolding, fall protection,
excavation, trenching and shoring, ergonomics, hazard communication,
pre-job planning, personal protective equipment, and behavior based
safety systems.
C.3. As assigned, maintains working relationships with Logistics,
Community, and Mission Operations personnel to monitor work practices
to ensure compliance with the SOHP, KRS Standard Practice Instructions,
and applicable Army regulations.
C.4. Advises supervisor(s) of noncompliance; stop work in imminent
danger situations and under conditions of imminent adverse environmental
impact; and report actions to supervisor. Recommend acceptable work
practices and ensures their implementation.
C.5. Ensure dissemination of information on new/revised regulations
to supervisors and employees through verbal and written communications
and through revisions to programs.
C.6. Conducts accident investigations, documents causative factors,
and prepares reports.
C.7. Executes other duties as assigned by the Safety Supervisor and/or
ES&H Manager. Additional duties may include work assignments
on outer islands, including, but not limited to Roi-Namur, and implementation,
compliance and oversight of Environmental Programs.
Requirements:
• Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety and Health or other Environmental,
Safety, and Health related field and 2 years of relevant safety and
occupational health experience, or
• Associates degree in Occupational Safety and Health or other Environmental,
Safety, and Health related field and 5 years of relevant safety and
occupational health experience, or
• A minimum 15 years of direct on-the-job safety and occupational health
compliance-related experience.
•
Experience which would be considered for relevancy includes, but
is not limited to current knowledge of industry and regulatory standards
and criteria pertinent to safety compliance and programs covered
under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Department
of Transportation, Department of Defense, and workers’ compensation.
• Technical knowledge of safety compliance systems, principles, and
calculations; application of safety protection methods and materials;
good communication and public speaking skills, applications of computers.
