SOFTWARE ENGINEER II (Full-time/Unaccompanied Status)


***This position is located on a beautiful tropical island in the Marshall Islands. You must be willing to relocate. This is an unaccompanied position***

 

JOB DUTIES:

Assist with operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and upgrade or modification of software systems in the mission safety organization. This currently includes systems on the KMRSS Worthy and at KRSS sites on Kwajalein and Roi Namur. These systems are running a combination of Windows 2000, VxWorks, Linux, and OpenVMS. The candidate must be willing and able to work aboard the KMRSS Worthy, a mobile flight safety system. This work environment requires that the candidate is able to climb boarding ladders and gang-planks, and able to carry at least 50 lbs. The candidate must be willing to sail aboard the KMRSS Worthy for periods up to 6 weeks at a time.


JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

Required: OOD and OOP using C++ in a Windows 2000 PC-based environment using MFC. Experienced with real-time application programming. Familiar with configuration management systems and scriting languages, particularly CVS and Perl. Familiar with flight safety systems and involvement in mission support, able to climb boarding ladders and gang-planks, able to carry at least 50 lbs.

Desired: It is highly desirable that the candidate have demonstrated knowledge of telemetry decommutation programming. It is also desired that the candidate have experience with flight safety systems and mission support. Familiar with HP Alphas, OpenVms, FORTRAN, QT tool kit, LINUX (Mandrake), VxWorks, flight safety algorithms, Labview; able to work with minimal supervision or independently; able to interface with online help sites to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.

SPACE SURVEILLANCE OPERATOR (Full-time/Unaccompanied Status)

JOB DUTIES:
• Support all RTS Space Surveillance Operations. The duties are performed in a real time environment and can be demanding. Demonstrate initiative in OJT while working on crew and help train others as they progress. Daily communications with the military customer is required and is handled in a highly professional manner. The Operator will support high priority Radar operations involving new space launches, near earth and deep space satellite tracks and maintain statistical & analytical data. He/She will operate multiple Radar sensors using acquisition and track consoles for data collection. He/She will operate UNIX and Linux PC computer systems and a dedicated communications Message Processing system. The Operator applicant is required to qualify up to the Assistant Operations Director level after nine (9) months of OJT & experience in Space Surveillance Operations. He/She will support documentation of Operational Procedures updating for the Space Surveillance mission.

MANAGER, TEST OPERATIONS (Full-time/Accompanied Status)

JOB DUTIES:

Overall management responsibility of the Test Operations group within the Plans and Operations organization, responsible for all aspects of test operations. Responsible for ensuring all PWS elements are satisfactorily achieved related to Program support, Mission Planning and Test Execution. Technical oversight to Engineering projects within the Kwajalein Mission Control Center.
The individual in this position will have the duties of managing and supervising the Test Operations section of Plans and Operations and overseeing the daily Operations Director functions. The position is responsible for budgeting and providing resource management to support Plans and Operations functions, as well as RTS Mission support. The Test Operations Manager will assign resources to provide support to the Government led IPTs, Program Support and mission support elements. This position is responsible for Range Scheduling activities and will ensure that contract deliverable items, to include AR06 and AR20 CDRL documents, are submitted satisfactorily and on time. The position requires an experienced technical manager that can ensure customer mission objectives are satisfactorily achieved, while managing the resources to achieve these goals. Coordination with CONUS program planning elements will be required, along with the responsibility to ensure appropriate mission staffing and training of key resources such as Mission Test Directors and KMCC operators remain supported.

Job Description: Operates and maintains RTS instrumentation and optics systems, including optical tracking mounts and visible, IR, and high-speed video cameras. Performs and may oversee preventive and corrective maintenance on assigned equipment in accordance with applicable system technical orders and other appropriate technical documentation. Performs and may oversee mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring, soldering repair, and checkout on a variety of electronic components subassemblies, assemblies, panels and chassis. Operates required Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) in the maintenance and evaluation of assigned hardware. Includes, but is not limited to multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, distortion analyzers, network analyzers and power meters. Systems Engineer III (Full-time/Unaccompanied Status)

JOB DUTIES:

  • The Engineer must lead technical staff with preparation, planning and execution of operations at the two flight safety systems at the Reagan Test Site at Kwajalein. This will involve all aspects of preparing the flight safety systems for missions, interfacing with government representatives, industry partners and other contractors in a team environment and supporting the flight safety function of missile testing from RTS systems. This includes systems on the KMRSS Worthy and at KRSS sites on Kwajalein and Roi Namur. The Engineer may be required to direct and schedule work for technical team of engineers/technicians and coordinate activities with other subsystem engineers. The Engineer will must be willing and able to work aboard the KMRSS Worthy, a mobile flight safety system. This work environment requires that the candidate is able to climb boarding ladders and gang-planks, and able to carry at least 50 lbs. The candidate must be willing to sail aboard the KMRSS Worthy for periods up to 6 weeks at a time. In this senior role the engineer will be expected to demonstrate expert level knowledge in assigned areas of specialization. The engineer will develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. The engineer will apply extensive technical expertise, and have full knowledge of other related disciplines.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Required: A broad level of system engineering experience is required. Experience working in a flight safety capacity at a missile range is required. Candidate must have demonstrated familiarity with the flight safety process in preparation for and execution of missile launches from a national range. The physical ability to sail aboard the KMRSS Worthy in a deep sea environment for extended periods is required. Effective project leadership skills are required.
  • Desired: Prior experience with sea based systems engineering and systems integration is desired. Familiarity with flight safety planning and involvement in mission support activities is desired. Experience in universal documentation system ( UDS) desired. Involvement in one or more of the following areas desired: RF link margin analysis, experience with networking systems, experience with telemetry systems, decomm experience, experience with satellite communications or broad software experience (C++). An MS in Engineering or closely related may be desirable.
