Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands: The Technician will provide operations and maintenance support for radar hardware systems. The Technician will maintain, troubleshoot and repair various pieces of commercial and custom hardware. The Technician will perform routine preventive maintenance procedures and run system diagnostic software. The Technician will provide support to hardware engineers during design and implementation of improvement and modernization (I&M) projects involving receivers, transmitters, servos, and antenna subsystems. The Technician will install new equipment and provide technical input about system configuration and performance. The Technician will fabricate cables, test fixtures and assemblies utilizing COTS components. The ability to climb and work at heights is required.

Position Status: Unaccompanied – This full-time position has a two year minimum commitment with unaccompanied status. Unaccompanied status means that no dependants or pets are authorized.

Required Skills: Requirements for this position include a High School Diploma and minimum of two years of civilian or military training in electronics and a minimum of 5 to 8 years of electrical experience. Prior experience working with high voltage systems is required. The ability to perform general and successful repairs & the ability to successfully troubleshoot electronics is required. The ability to read schematics is required. The technician must be able to use an oscilloscope, a digital voltmeter, an RF power meter and a spectrum analyzer. General computer literacy is expected. Excellent electrical fabrication skills and soldering skills are needed. A familiarity with standard electronic test equipment is required. Prior experience working with oscilloscopes, frequency analyzers is required. Must obtain climber II certification (local training and testing provided) and be able to work at moderate heights.

Desired Skills: An AS in Electronics is desired. Experience with the general repair and troubling shooting of RF equipment is desired. Experience in the safe setup and conduct of measurements of dc or dc pulsed high-voltage circuits is preferred. Mechanical fabrication skills are a plus.

Hardware Engineer III, Radar (Full Time / Unaccompanied)

Responsibilities: The Radar Systems Engineer oversees design, development, installation, and test of radar modifications and upgrades, coordinates diagnosis and repair of radar faults, and analyzes and evaluates radar system performance. The Engineer is responsible for maintaining radar sensor performance by monitoring radar performance and performing systems analysis in support of the identification and isolation of system anomalies. The Radar Systems Engineer serves as the sensor Test Director for missions. This responsibility includes the preparation of detailed mission plans, training mission operators, supervising mission execution, and analyzing and reporting on mission execution. The Engineer will apply advanced technical principles, techniques, theories and concepts. The engineer will work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.

Field Engineer II - MPS - 36's/ Kwaj Radars (Full Time / Unaccompanied)

Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands: The Field Engineer will lead and perform maintenance as required on

MPS -36 SN3, MPS-36 SN4, ROSA Hardware, CFA and TWT Tubes, and other Kwaj Radar Assets.

The Field Engineer will document maintenance performed on the above assets. In particular, the prescribed PMs, CMs and RMs of the MPS-36 SN3 and SN4 radars. The Field Engineer will ensure documentation is kept up to date, accurately reflects maintenance performed and is readily available for inspection by customer and management. The Field Engineer will perform continuous improvement on MPS-36 documentation and drawings. The Field Engineer will coordinate with Systems and Hardware engineers on O&M Maintenance of the MPS-36 radars. Ensure staff engineers are kept informed on MPS-36 radar performance and equipment status. Actively look for irregularities in MPS-36 performance and investigate. Bring irregularities to the attention of staff engineers. The Field Engineer will ensure the protection and proper storage of MPS-36 transmitter tubes. Ensure Vacion pumps are functioning. Maintain comprehensive database of transmitter tube serial number, usage, status, etc. The Field Engineer will coordinate with Property to ensure accountability of the items on the MPS-36 property account. Coordinate with Cal Lab to ensure test equipment is in compliance with calibration and calibration schedules. Coordinate with Facilities, PW, FOM, Fire Department, RF Safety, Supply, Transportation, and other KRS Functional groups as needed. The Field Engineer will support engineering staff on various O&M and I&M activities. Provide support to external technical initiatives that interface with the MPS-36 Radars including RDO, RSS, RII, EARS, and other future projects. The Field Engineer will maintain communications with IRSP Contractor and serve as RTS Point of contact for the IRSP Program. Manage the acquisition of IRSP new parts as well as return and repair parts. Ensure maximum use of available IRSP resources available to RTS. The Field Engineer will ensure mission readiness of MPS-36 radars. Serve as technical POC for legacy subsystems. Serve as tracker / radar operator as needed. The Field Engineer will elevate issues with the above items through management chain. The Field Engineer will provide support to augment ASR-11 Team as required and will coordinate with ASR-11 Team Lead on availability of shared department staff.

The Field Engineer will assist with parts ordering and supply for department and will assist MPS-36 and ASR-11 Team Leads with return of items to IRSP and FAA Depots. The Field Engineer will support engineering staff on various O&M and I&M activities. The Field Engineer will provide support to external technical initiatives that interface with the MPS-36 Radars including RDO, RSS, RII, EARS, and other future projects. The Field Engineer will function as Acting MPS-36 or Acting ASR-11 Team leader if needed. The Field Engineer will elevate issues with the above items through management chain.

Hardware Engineer IV, Transmitters (Full Time / Accompanied)

Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands: The transmitter engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of the ALTAIR UHF and VHF transmitters. This is a senior level engineering position that requires a high degree of knowledge and experience working with high voltage, high power RF amplifiers employing both power grid tubes as well as linear beam tubes operating at multi megawatt power levels. The candidate will be responsible for directing the work of senior field engineers and technicians. Additionally, he will be responsible for developing detailed requirements for system enhancements to include modifications to increase system reliability as well as upgrades to incorporate new capabilities. Experience in online system troubleshooting is essential with emphasis placed on restoring operation in the shortest possible time. The candidate will also support improvement and modernization projects associated with the ALTAIR transmitter as the responsible engineer. This includes project management of engineering change proposals (ECP) and technical studies, working closely with the hardware-engineering staff, system engineers and the RTS technical advisor. Mission support and cross-functional support of transmitters at other KREMS sensors is anticipated.

Experience with High Power Amplifiers, Vacuum Tube amplifiers in excess of 1 MW, TWTs, Klystrons is required. Experience with High Power design practices is required. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in high power RF measurement techniques, high voltage troubleshooting and a solid background in the fundamentals of transmitter architecture and design. It is mandatory that the candidate be experienced and fully understand the unique safety issues associated with working at high power RF and X-radiation levels that are common in this work environment.

Strong communications skills are required.

Location: Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands: The ALTAIR Systems Engineer provides technical support to the ALTAIR radar for mission operations, system maintenance, troubleshooting and I&M projects. ALTAIR is a 24/7, 365 days per year space surveillance sensor and instrumentation radar. This individual is responsible for problem troubleshooting and resolution as well as real-time program and software tools maintenance and development. System Engineering responsibilities also include mission test director/radar operator roles, overseeing and/or leading modifications and upgrades, diagnosis and repair of radar faults, evaluation and analysis or radar system performance, and support of re-entry missions or special programs. The ALTAIR systems engineer works under the technical guidance of a lead systems engineer and may be required to coordinate work with counterparts at other radars.

Required Skills: Requirements for this position will include a BS in an engineering or related field and will typically require 5-8 years of professional level engineering experience. Strong communications skills are required including the ability to function as Test Director in a mission critical environment. Mission Operations experience is required. Typically 5 years in design and development engineering, system engineering methods and 5 years leading technically challenging projects are required

Desired Skills: Extensive background in hardware/software engineering is desired. An MS in an engineering or related field is highly desired. Weapons test range operations experience may be desirable. Weapons test range systems O&M experience may be desirable. Strong math skills and MATLAB experience are a plus.

TRADEX Microwave/Receivers Field Engineer II (Full-time/Unaccompanied Status)

Provide operations and maintenance support for radar hardware systems, specifically the troubleshooting and repair of various receiver components at TRADEX. Maintain, troubleshoot and repair various pieces of commercial and custom hardware. Operations support includes receiver calibrations, satellite tracks, and range operations. Perform routine preventive maintenance procedures and run system diagnostic software. Provide support to hardware engineers during design and implementation of improvement and modernization (I&M) projects. Coordinate and maintain receiver spares. Bench test components and subassemblies. Install new equipment and provide technical input about system configuration and performance. Fabricate cables, test fixtures and assemblies utilizing COTS components. Candidate must be familiar with standard electronic test equipment, and have a strong background in high power electronics and RF transmission. Work experience with oscilloscopes and frequency analyzers is a plus. Candidate must be able to read schematic diagrams, wiring lists, and assembly prints. Sufficient writing and computer skills are required to generate job safety analyses, procedures, and weekly reports. 5-8 years experience needed. Climber II certification and the ability to work at moderate heights will be required. Candidate must be able to obtain a SECRET level security clearance.

MPS-36 Team Lead – Field Engineer II (Full-time/Unaccompanied Status)

Duties:
(1) Lead and perform maintenance as required on
MPS-36 SN3
MPS-36 SN4
ROSA Hardware
CFA and TWT Tubes
Other Kwaj Radar Assets

(2) Document maintenance performed on the above assets. In particular, the prescribed PMs, CMs and RMs of the MPS-36 SN3 and SN4 radars. Ensure documentation is kept up to date, accurately reflects maintenance performed and is readily available for inspection by customer and management. Perform continuous improvement on MPS-36 documentation and drawings.

(3) Coordinate with Systems and Hardware engineers on O&M Maintenance of the MPS-36 radars. Ensure staff engineers are kept informed on MPS-36 radar performance and equipment status. Actively look for irregularities in MPS-36 performance and investigate. Bring irregularities to the attention of staff engineers.

(4) Ensure the protection and proper storage of MPS-36 transmitter tubes. Ensure Vacion pumps are functioning. Maintain comprehensive database of transmitter tube serial number, usage, status, etc.

(5) Coordinate with Property to ensure accountability of the items on the MPS-36 property account. Coordinate with Cal Lab to ensure test equipment is in compliance with calibration and calibration schedules. Coordinate with Facilities, PW, FOM, Fire Department, RF Safety, Supply, Transportation, and other KRS Functional groups as needed.

(6) Support engineering staff on various O&M and I&M activities. Provide support to external technical initiatives that interface with the MPS-36 Radars including RDO, RSS, RII, EARS, and other future projects.

(7) Maintain communications with IRSP Contractor and serve as RTS Point of contact for the IRSP Program. Manage the acquisition of IRSP new parts as well as return and repair parts. Ensure maximum use of available IRSP resources available to RTS.

(8) Ensure mission readiness of MPS-36 radars. Serve as technical POC for legacy subsystems. Serve as tracker / radar operator as needed.

(9) Elevate issues with the above items through management chain.

(10) Provide support to augment ASR-11 Team as required. Coordinate with ASR-11 Team Lead on availability of shared department staff.

ALTAIR Transmitter Engineer lV (Full-time/Unaccompanied Status)

The transmitter engineer in this position is responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of the ALTAIR UHF and VHF transmitters. This is a senior level engineering position that requires a high degree of knowledge and experience working with high voltage, high power RF amplifiers employing both power grid tubes as well as linear beam tubes operating at multi megawatt power levels. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in high power RF measurement techniques, high voltage troubleshooting and a solid background in the fundamentals of transmitter architecture and design. It is mandatory that the candidate be experienced and fully understand the unique safety issues associated with working at high power RF and X-radiation levels that are common in this work environment.

The candidate will be responsible for directing the work of senior field engineers and technicians. Additionally, he will be responsible for developing detailed requirements for system enhancements to include modifications to increase system reliability as well as upgrades to incorporate new capabilities. Experience in online system troubleshooting is essential with emphasis placed on restoring operation in the shortest possible time.

The candidate will also support improvement and modernization projects associated with the ALTAIR transmitter as the responsible engineer. This includes project management of engineering change proposals (ECP) and technical studies, working closely with the hardware-engineering staff, system engineers and the RTS technical advisor. Mission support and cross-functional support of transmitters at other KREMS sensors is anticipated.
