Job Description:
Responsibilities: Provide support to US Army on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Kwajalein Range Services (KRS) is a Bechtel/Lockheed Martin Joint Venture. KRS's involvement is in support of the United States Army at the Kwajalein Atoll. Applies technical knowledge to perform routine to complex tasks and measurements associated with RTS Telemetry equipment. Will participate in mission planning, preparation, and evaluation of requirements. Operates and maintains the RTS Instrumentation and systems. Performs on site data preparation and data transmission. Maintains Plant in Place Drawings and Circuit Layout. Performs system checkouts, tests, and pre-mission simulations. Analyzes pre-mission and post-mission data to detect sensor equipment malfunctions and deviations. Operates, maintains and repairs to the component level, all types of telemetry equipment t o include but not limited to Antenna Controls/Antenna’s, Telemetry Bit Stream Processor, Translated GPS Range Tracking System (TGRS) Analog/Digital Recorders, Receivers, Multiplex/Demux Equipment, Strip Charts Maintains documentation records of maintenance performed and mission support logs. JOB DUTIES:
Overall responsibilities include operating and maintaining TRADEX
radar instrumentation systems: digital, transmitter, receiver/microwave,
and antenna subsystems, and assisting the TRADEX digital equipment
engineer with the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of
modernized radar digital hardware. Functional supervision of
technicians may also be required in this position. The Field
Engineer will perform routine maintenance and repair on SGI workstations,
SGI Origin 2000, and a variety of Intel Architecture desktop
and embedded computers. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance
on legacy digital equipment in accordance with applicable system
technical orders and other appropriate technical documentation.
Perform mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring, soldering
repair and checkout on a variety of electronic component subassemblies,
assemblies, panels and chassis. Operate appropriate test measurement
diagnostic equipment (TMDE) in the maintenance and evaluation
of radar hardware. This equipment includes but is not limited
to meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, distortion analyzers,
network analyzers and power meters. Participate in and perform
training to maintain and increase certification and skill level.
Complete and maintains log, forms and records in support of radar
operation and maintenence. Day to day activities may include
operations support, system calibrations and radar operations
and checkouts. Mission support duties include console operator
positions and participation in range activity support. This position
also serves as a backup to the TRADEX operations director (OD).

The receiver engineer will perform maintenance, upgrades and major
modifications with respect to the receiver chain on one or more
of the radar systems that exist at the Reagan Test Site (RTS).
Innovations to improve system performance (e.g. increase dynamic

to these improvements. The receiver engineer will understand, execute,
and update calibration procedures with respect to the various receiver

for field engineers/technicians and coordinate and support activities

JOB DUTIES:
• The Radar Systems Engineer provides
technical oversight for mission operations, maintenance, design,
development, installation,
and test of radar modifications and upgrades, coordinates diagnosis
and repair of radar faults, and analyzes and measures radar system
performance at the assigned radar sensor.

The Radar System Engineer responsibility’s includes coordinating
all aspects of the sensors participation in a mission operation.
This includes; mission planning with range operations to develop
mission planning products and presentations, developing a concept
of operation for both nominal and off nominal scenarios, configuring

This understanding includes all basic radar system and subsystem
knowledge. The Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining
radar performance through frequent calibrations and systems analysis.

a Lead Systems Engineer and may be required to coordinate work
with counterparts at other radars. Additional responsibilities
will include; constant coordination and communication on software
issues, verify and validate new RTP software builds, Function as
project lead for engineering change proposals and I&M projects,
Make study recommendations and provide technical leadership on
modifications and ensure all upgrades are done in compliance with
the Mission Operations ECP/PST design process. Elevate issues with
the above items through management chain. Keep sensor management
informed on status and issues of system performance.

- The Technician will provide operations and maintenance support for a C-Band radar systems. The Technician will maintain, troubleshoot and repair various pieces of commercial and custom hardware. - Required: Prior experience working with high voltage systems is required. The ability to perform general and successful repairs & the ability to successfully troubleshoot electronics is required. Must be familiar with standard electronic test equipment. Candidate must have a strong background in high power electronics and RF transmission. The ability to read schematics is required. The technician must be able to use an oscilloscope, a digital voltmeter, an RF power meter and a spectrum analyzer. Sufficient writing skills required to generate JSA's, procedures, and weekly reports along with general computer literacy is expected. Electronics Technician II (Full-time/Unaccompanied Status)
JOB DUTIES:
- The technician will support the 24x7 ALTAIR radar mission by operating the UHF/VHF transmitter on a shift schedule. The technician will assist the engineering staff with maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of the transmitter. Transmitter equipment includes traveling wave tubes and other vacuum tubes, various pieces of commercial and custom RF hardware,water cooling system components such as pumps, motors, meters and gages, as well as other Analog/Digital equipment. The technician will fabricate cables and assemble off-line test fixtures. Electronics Technician III (Full-time/Unaccompanied Status)
JOB DUTIES:
- The Technician will provide operations and maintenance support for C-Band & Ka-Band radar systems. The Technician will maintain, troubleshoot and repair various pieces of commercial and custom hardware. Operations support includes daily warm-ups, satellite tracks and range operations. The Technician will perform routine preventive maintenance procedures and run system diagnostic software. The Technician will provide support to receiver, transmitter and hardware engineers during design and implementation of improvement and modernization (I&M) projects involving receivers, transmitters, servos, and antenna subsystems. Bench test components and subassemblies. The Technician will install new equipment and provide technical input about system configuration and performance. The Technician will maintain an equipment calibration data base, test fixtures and assemblies utilizing COTS components. The ability to climb and work at heights is required.
JOB SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Required: Prior experience working with high voltage systems is required. The ability to perform general and successful repairs & the ability to successfully troubleshoot electronics is required. Must be familiar with standard electronic test equipment. Candidate must have a strong background in high power electronics and RF transmission. The ability to read schematics is required. The technician must be able to use an oscilloscope, a digital voltmeter, an RF power meter and a spectrum analyzer. Sufficient writing skills required to generate JSA's, procedures, and weekly reports along with general computer literacy is expected. Excellent electrical fabrication skills and soldering skills are needed. A familiarity with standard electronic test equipment is required. Prior experience working with oscilloscopes, frequency analyzers is required. Must obtain climber II certification (local training and testing provided) and be able to work at moderate heights.
- Desired: Experience with the general repair and troubling shooting of RF equipment is desired. Experience maintaining a vacuum tube, high power peak pulsed microwave transmitteris desired. Experience in the safe setup and conduct of measurements of dc or dc pulsed high-voltage circuits is preferred. Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC hardware is desirable. Experience with analog/RF hardware components such as amplifiers, couplers, and hybrids is helpful. Mechanical fabrication skills are a plus.
EXPERIENCE (Years):
- Required: 5-7 years electrical experience in RF systems, including vacumm tube technology is needed.
- Desired: 8 years experence with RF equipment and transmitter maintenance is desired
EDUCATION:
- Required: High School Diploma and minimum of two years of civilian or military electrical/electronics training.
